Work is set to begin this week on the resurfacing of two county roads in Springfield, Burlington County. The project will involve repaving sections of Saylor’s Pond Road and Jacksonville-Jobstown Road.
Pavement milling and overlay work are scheduled to start on Monday, June 16, on a 3.4-mile stretch of Saylor’s Pond Road, also known as County Route 670. This section extends from Route 537 (Monmouth Road) to the Wrightstown border. The completion of this phase is anticipated within a week.
During construction, westbound traffic on Saylor’s Pond Road will remain open, while eastbound traffic will be redirected via Route 537 and Route 545 (Georgetown Road). Detour signs have been placed to guide motorists, but delays are expected, prompting advice for drivers to consider alternative routes.
On Thursday, June 19, work will commence on a separate section involving the repaving of a 1.9-mile segment of Jacksonville-Jobstown Road. This portion runs from Route 537 (Monmouth Road) to Route 206. The estimated time for completion is about two weeks.
For Jacksonville-Jobstown Road, eastbound traffic will continue as usual during the project; however, westbound traffic will be detoured using Route 537 and Route 206. Similar to the other roadwork site, motorists should anticipate delays and plan for alternate routes.
The resurfacing is being executed by Arawak Paving Company Inc., based in Hammonton. It forms part of Burlington County’s annual road resurfacing initiative that aims to cover a total of 33.4 miles across 16 municipalities under Arawak’s contract.
“Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and has over 500 miles of County roads, 411 County bridges and 700 plus culverts. Maintaining this infrastructure is one of the important services our government performs,” said Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion, who serves as liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Our repaving program ensures Burlington County has safe, quality roads and we are pleased to see that work is continuing.”
