Work is set to commence next week on the resurfacing of Georgetown-Wrightstown Road, spanning Mansfield, Chesterfield, and Springfield. The pavement milling and overlay are scheduled to start on Tuesday, June 24. This project covers a two-mile section of County Route 545 from Georgetown Road in Mansfield to Route 537 (Monmouth Road) in Springfield. Completion is anticipated within two weeks.
During the construction period, southbound traffic will be maintained on Georgetown-Wrightstown Road. However, northbound traffic will be rerouted via Route 537, Route 68, and Route 206. Detour signs will be placed accordingly; nonetheless, drivers should expect delays and consider alternative routes.
The project is being executed by Arawak Paving Company Inc., based in Hammonton. It forms part of Burlington County’s annual road resurfacing initiative that aims to improve a total of 33.4 miles across 16 municipalities under Arawak’s contract.
“Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and has over 500 miles of County roads, 411 County bridges and 700 plus culverts. Maintaining this infrastructure is one of the important services our government performs,” stated Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion, who serves as liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Our repaving program ensures Burlington County has safe, quality roads, and we are pleased to see that work is continuing.”
