Work is set to begin on the resurfacing of parts of North Pemberton Road and Ong’s Hat Road in Burlington County. The project will start with pavement milling and overlay work on a 0.4-mile stretch of North Pemberton Road, also known as County Route 616, from Pemberton Road to Route 206. This phase is scheduled to commence on Friday, June 13, and is expected to last about a week.
Following this, repaving efforts will focus on a 3.1-mile section of Ong’s Hat Road, referred to as County Route 642, stretching from Burrs Mill Road in Southampton to Route 644 in Pemberton Township. Work on this segment is slated to begin on Monday, June 16, with an estimated completion time of two weeks.
Throughout these projects, traffic will be maintained in the work areas; however, motorists are advised that delays are likely and should consider alternative routes when possible.
The roadwork is being executed by Arawak Paving Company Inc., based in Hammonton. It forms part of Burlington County’s annual road resurfacing initiative which aims to address a total of 33.4 miles across 16 municipalities within the county under Arawak’s current contract.
Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion commented on the significance of maintaining infrastructure: “Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and has over 500 miles of County roads, 411 County bridges and 700 plus culverts. Maintaining this infrastructure is one of the important services our government performs,” he stated. “Our repaving program ensures Burlington County has safe, quality roads and we are pleased to see that work is continuing.”
