Burlington County announced on May 21 that repaving work is scheduled to begin next week on a section of Mount Holly-Jacksonville Road, also known as County Route 628, in Westampton, Eastampton and Springfield.
The project will involve pavement milling and overlay work starting Tuesday, May 26. Approximately 1.7 miles of roadway will be resurfaced from Oxmead Road in Westampton to Route 670 (Jacksonville-Jobstown Road) in Springfield. The county expects the work to take about two weeks to complete.
During construction, northbound traffic on Mount Holly-Jacksonville Road will remain open while southbound traffic will be detoured via Route 670, Route 206, Route 537 and Route 630. Motorists are advised they may experience delays and should consider alternative routes.
Arawak Paving Company Inc., based in Hammonton, has been contracted for the project as part of Burlington County’s annual road resurfacing program. The contract includes repaving a total of approximately 34.3 miles across fourteen municipalities within the county.
“Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and has over 500 miles of County roads, 411 County bridges and 700 plus culverts. Maintaining this infrastructure is one of the important services our government performs,” said Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion, who serves as liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Our repaving program ensures Burlington County has safe, quality roads, and we are pleased to see that work is continuing.”
According to the official website, Burlington County encompasses an area of about 827 square miles with forty political subdivisions made up of three cities, six boroughs and thirty-one townships; it operates under a Board of County Commissioners with five at-large members and Eve Cullinan serving as county administrator.
