The Burlington County Animal Shelter is organizing a special event for Super Bowl Sunday, coinciding with the Philadelphia Eagles’ participation in Super Bowl LIX. Fans are invited to join the “Pup Rally” at the shelter on February 9 from noon to 4 PM.
In collaboration with Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter, this marks the second annual “Tail”-gate Open House. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet dogs and cats available for adoption or fostering. Adoption fees will be waived from February 2 through February 9 as an incentive.
The event will feature music, snacks, a training camp obstacle course, and other themed activities. Visitors can also watch part of the Discovery Channel’s Puppy Bowl at 2 PM on a big screen.
Burlington County Commissioner Tyler J. Burrell stated, “Super Bowl Sunday is a special occasion for families and friends to get together and we’re looking to make it extra special by connecting people to our shelter’s champion pets.” He added that all fans are welcome to help find homes for animals at the shelter.
Among those available for adoption is Buddy, a four-year-old pit bull terrier known for his outgoing nature. Last year’s open house saw five adoptions, including Chief, another pit bull terrier mix who had been at the shelter longest.
Commissioner Burrell expressed hope for both an Eagles victory and successful adoptions: “We’re rooting for an Eagles victory but also adoptions for Buddy and many of the other wonderful dogs and cats at the shelter.”
The Burlington County Animal Shelter is located in Westampton at 35 Academy Drive. Information about adoptable pets can be found online.
Last year saw significant adoption numbers with 1,344 cats and 453 dogs finding new homes through the shelter. Residents unable to adopt or foster are encouraged to support by engaging with social media efforts.
