Burlington County election officials are urging residents to be aware of changes to polling locations and voting districts for the upcoming New Jersey Primary Election on June 10. Sample ballots have been sent to registered voters who did not request or return a vote-by-mail ballot by May 20, and they should arrive soon. Voters are encouraged to bring their sample ballot for faster check-in on Election Day.
Voters in Chesterfield, Medford, Mount Laurel, Shamong, and Southampton should pay special attention to their polling location and voting district details on their sample ballots due to recent redistricting. The number of voting districts has increased in these areas: Chesterfield now has four districts, Medford has 20, Mount Laurel has 36, Shamong remains with four but boundaries have changed, and Southampton now has eight districts.
Changes have also been made to some polling locations in Burlington City, Evesham, and Pemberton. Burlington City Ward 4 District 1 voters will cast their votes at Tabernacle Baptist Church; Evesham voters in districts 17, 18, and 25 will go to Blue Barn Recreation Facility; those in districts 20 and 22 will vote at Marlton Middle School; Pemberton Township voters in districts 1-3 will head to the Pemberton Township Senior Center.
Voters can verify their district and polling place using their sample ballot or an online tool available at https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-polling-location.shtml.
“Voting is a fundamental right,” said Burlington County Election Board Chair Heather Cheesman. “We have taken steps to ensure voters can exercise that right in safe, secure, and accessible locations.” She emphasized that voters could choose between vote-by-mail ballots or machine voting during early voting or on Primary Election Day with confidence that all votes would be counted accurately.
The early voting period runs from June 3 through June 8 across nine locations throughout the county. All registered voters may use any early voting site within Burlington County. However, only declared Republicans and Democrats can participate in the primary election unless unaffiliated voters declare a party affiliation beforehand or during early voting/Primary Election Day.
Vote-by-mail (VBM) ballots remain an option until June 9 at 3 PM through requests submitted online or directly at Clerk’s offices located at Moorestown’s Elections Building or Mount Holly’s County Clerk’s Office. Completed VBM ballots must be postmarked or delivered before polls close on June 10 via drop boxes around the county or directly handed over at designated offices.
