Senator Andy Kim, a representative of New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently expressed his views on various issues through social media posts. The tweets cover topics such as funding for scientific research, leadership in employment equality, and rights for transgender youth.
On June 18, 2025, Senator Kim addressed concerns regarding proposed budget cuts to the National Science Foundation (NSF). He stated that “The National Science Foundation is critical to our future, but Trump wants to cut it by $5 billion. Here are 5 things we wouldn’t have today if it wasn’t for the NSF.”
Later that day, Senator Kim communicated with the Acting Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), emphasizing accountability to citizens over presidential directives. He tweeted: “Today, I let the Acting Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission know that her boss is the American people, not the President. We deserve leadership that will fight for the rights of all of us, not just those who the President deems worthy.”
In another post on June 18th, he advocated for transgender youth’s rights concerning their health and well-being. He asserted: “Trans youth deserve an opportunity for life, freedom, and happiness in our country but time and time again they are met with hate and fear. Any decision around their health and the care they need should be made by their families and doctors.”
Senator Andy Kim was born in Boston in 1982 and currently resides in Moorestown. He holds degrees from both Deep Springs College and the University of Chicago.
