Senator Andy Kim, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since replacing Tom MacArthur in 2019, recently shared his thoughts on several issues through a series of tweets. These messages provide insight into his perspectives on healthcare policy and political reform.
On July 9, 2025, Senator Kim expressed concern about the impact of what he referred to as “Trump’s Big Disastrous Bill” on healthcare facilities. He stated that “We’re already starting to see the first hospitals and health clinics closing as a result of Trump’s Big Disastrous Bill and over $800 million in cuts to Medicaid.” Kim emphasized that while the full effects of the bill might take time to manifest, its negative implications for hospitals, nursing homes, and health clinics are apparent.
Later that day, he addressed broader political issues by asserting that “After the passage of Trump’s Big Disastrous Bill, it’s clear we need to fix our broken politics.” This statement underscores his belief in the necessity for political reform following legislative actions he views as detrimental.
On July 10, 2025, Kim shared an experience meeting with children from Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes. In this interaction, he highlighted a personal connection by saying “I had the honor of meeting with kids from Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes. I told Ainsley, a Type 1 Diabetes patient living in Belmar, NJ, that she is my boss.” His commitment to advocating for affordable insulin and further diabetes research was evident in his pledge to fight for individuals managing diabetes.
Senator Andy Kim has served since 2019 and is committed to addressing healthcare challenges and advocating for political change. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown at age 40, he holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (2004).
