Senator Andy Kim, representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media platform. Kim, who was born in Boston and currently resides in Moorestown, shared his views on gun violence awareness, economic policies affecting vulnerable communities, and the necessity for experienced leadership in disaster management.
On June 6, 2025, Senator Kim marked National Gun Violence Awareness Day by expressing solidarity with those affected by gun violence. He stated, “Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. I #WearOrange in solidarity with victims, survivors, and all who are touched by gun violence in New Jersey and beyond.” He emphasized the importance of living free from fear of violence within communities.
Later that day, Senator Kim criticized the Trump administration’s policy changes regarding the child tax credit. He noted that these changes would adversely affect vulnerable groups such as single mothers. Kim remarked, “Once again, the Trump administration is leaving behind our most vulnerable communities.” He argued that raising income requirements for the child tax credit is not an effective strategy to alleviate poverty.
In another post on June 6th, Kim called for the appointment of a qualified FEMA Administrator amid increasing natural disasters. Highlighting past weather-related damages exceeding $1 billion each, he urged prompt action from the Trump administration. He stated, “Wildfire and hurricane seasons won’t wait.”
Andy Kim has been active in addressing these concerns as part of his congressional duties since succeeding Tom MacArthur in 2019. A graduate of the University of Chicago and Deep Springs College, he continues to focus on key issues impacting his constituents.
